This embossed dinnerware pattern was originated by an American-based company, Gladding, McBean & Company, who produced Franciscan ceramic dinnerware in Los Angeles from the 1930s to the 1960s. The dinnerware line changed hands a few times being produced and distributed by International Pipe and Ceramics (also known as Interpace) and Wedgwood. Wedgwood went through some changes and mergers moving production from the USA to England and eventually becoming Wedgwood Waterford Royal Doulton, which continues to produce the most in-demand Franciscan patterns, Desert Rose and Apple.
