I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE FRIENDLY VILLAGE DINNERWARE UNTIL I FOUND A REMARKABLE FIND AT A LOCAL GARAGE SALE. THERE SITTING IN A TATTERED BOX UNDER THE TABLE WAS A 45 PC SET OF THE FRINDLY VILLAGE. I PAID THE LADY THE $5 SHE HAD ON THEM AND COULD HARDLY WAIT TO GET HOME AND INSPECT MY TREASURES.THE BOX WAS VERY AGED WITH . THE ENGLAND STAMPINGS ON THE BOTTOM. ON THE SIDE WAS STAMPED 45PC SET OF DINNERWARE AND A LIST OF ENCLOSED PCS. EACH PC WAS FACTORY PACKED AND IN PERFECT CONDITION. YES---NO CHIPS---PERFECT CONDITION. ONE CUP ON TOP WAS WRAPPED IN A 1974 YELLOWED NEWSPAPER.....THE PIECES HAVE A SMALL RED OR GREEN MARK ON THE BOTTOM..CAN"T SEEM TO FIND THE MEANING OF THESE MARKS OR HOW TO DETERMINE THE YEAR THESE BEAUTIES WERE MADE..NEEDLESS TO SAY I"M HOOKED ON THE FRIENDLY VILLAGE AND IT NOW HAS A VERY WARM LOVING HOME IN MY CHINA CABINET INSTEAD OF HIDDEN UNDER A TABLE.

Friendly Village Collector
by: Anonymous

I am also a collector of Friendly Village pattern. At about the same time (early 1970s) my (new) husband and I were shopping at a beloved store here in New York called Fortunoff. We saw this 45 piece set and we loved how each piece told a different story of a village of old times. There were several pieces we never added or even knew about but now with the internet everything can be located with enough time and patience. Still adding and it's so exciting when new pieces arrive. Your enthusiasm is well understood!

Isn't it wonderful!

Hi Betty,

I have a set of the Friendly Village too. I think it's amazing. It looks nice in my antique china cabinet and coordinates well with my Thomas Kincaid print. I love it!!!

Thanks for sharing. Glad you got a great deal!
