"Tea Party" by Culinary Arts

by Chrissie
(Battle Ground, WA)

I've been searching the last 7 months for this Culinary Arts pattern "Tea Party". I can't even find a picture of it on the internet. The name shows up on Replacements.com but without a picture or any information about it. Ebay doesn't show this pattern nor Etsy. I have this set and am missing a couple salad plates. It's like it simply doesn't exist! Can you tell me anything about this pattern, the age, etc. I'm so frustrated so ANY help you can give me would be so appreciated....

Found the location of Tien Shan Inc.
by: Misty

Hi Chrissie,

I found an article by The Hour that mentioned Tien Shan Inc. It appears that they were located at 375 Ely Avenue in Norfolk, Connecticut at one time.

I also found another address from Bloomberg... 231 Wilson Avenue, Suite 1, South Norwalk, CT 06854-5027.

Hope this helps.

What happened to Culinary Arts?
by: Misty

Hi Chrissie,

Thank you for writing in. The Culinary Arts dinnerware brand is hard to find these days. It was produced by a company named Tienshan, Inc. that was based in Connecticut. They were in business from the early 80s. Around 2009, they seemed to disappear from the dinnerware market.

I have tried to discover what happened to company to no avail. The brands they carried included Culinary Arts, Folkcraft, Stoney Hill, and Tienshan.

You may try looking for buy or sale ventures on Facebook in the Connecticut area. I don't know if it was a big company or if it was a small venture and I don't know which town they were in, but maybe the local folks would have more information.

Good luck in your search for this pattern. It is really beautiful.

Misty
