Nikko Dinnerware Blacktie dishwasher safe?

We are wish to finally buy ourselves a nice set of dishes. But we want to know if nikko Blacktie is safe for the dishwasher. We have looked on several sites and received different information

Hi Ronda,

Thanks for posting to the dinnerware shopping guide. I don't know specifically about Nikko Blacktie dinnerware; however, most modern dinnerware is dishwasher safe. Hand washing is recommended because of the platinum trim. Any dinnerware with metallic trim lasts longer if you hand wash it instead of putting it in the dishwasher. Fine china is also prone to crazing (cracks in the glaze) if they are washed in a dishwasher. Personally, I hand wash my fine china because I want it to last forever. If you desire dishwasher washing, you would be better off looking for a casual dinnerware set that is dishwasher safe. Save the Blacktie dinnerware for special occasions and hand wash it in mild soap for the best results in long-lasting dinnerware.
