Christmas dishes are true treasures because they create memories that friends and family will hold on to forever. They help to set the mood for season bringing cheerfulness and joy. They become priceless heirlooms to the youngsters that cherish good times with family. Often, holiday recipes and the dishes that they are served in become the center of attention in unforgettable tales that people choose to share and pass on to their children.
There is a quite a variety of holiday dinnerware that ranges from Christmas dinnerware sets to snack plates. I have a weakness for Christmas tea sets and other Christmas dishes such as candy trays and candy dishes (maybe I just like Christmas candy!)
Red glassware is also popular for the Christmas season and if the pattern is standard without all of the holiday embellishments, it double serves its purpose for Valentine's Day.
I'm kind of blasé when it comes to decorating with dishes because I have a little too much practicality in me. It makes more sense to me to have an elegant dinnerware set without a lot of color or trimming that can be versatile and used all year. For instance, I would like to have the Mikasa Love Story dinnerware set with all of the accessories and complement it at Christmas time with napkins made of holiday fabric and red or green serving dishes, or serve colorful desserts, like strawberry shortcake, in the matching goblets. The accessories for the Mikasa Love Story pattern also have a Holiday place setting and Holiday mugs that match the dinnerware set.
Many people that I know go all out at Christmas time changing their everyday dinnerware sets with casual holiday dinnerware sets and using an extravagant Christmas dinnerware set for Christmas dinner. They have Christmas cookie jars filled with homemade cookies, Christmas covered cake plates with a family favorite cake in it and so forth. I would like to be that way, but I'm a little bit domestically challenged! Maybe I'll transform when I'm a grandma.
At any rate, whether you go all out or just purchase a few Christmas dishes to use as accessories at Christmas time, these dishes will be remembered and make repeat visitors feel special when presented food or treats in them.
