My favorite Christmas story comes from when my little sister was about two years old. There's eleven years between me and her and my brother's a few years older than me. My brother and I were way over Santa Clause, but our baby sister was in the stage of wonder and belief.
My brother went on top of the house and ran across the roof saying "Ho Ho Ho". My little sisters eyes lit up and she ran to the fireplace waiting for him to come down the chimney. That took some explaining! We told her that was Santa and the reindeer taking off because he had already left the presents under the tree.
My next favorite Christmases were spent at my grandparents' houses and we so enjoyed being with the family for Christmas dinner. They didn't have Christmas dinnerware, but sometimes we ate off of my Grandmother's china and she had an awesome salt and pepper shaker set that looked like turkeys - male and female. When she passed away, I was presented with the opportunity of keeping something of hers as a heirloom. My first choice was the salt and pepper shakers. I still use them to this day.
How great would it be to have Christmas dishes to pass down from generation to generation?
Personally, I love the idea!
There are many choices of Christmas dishes and Christmas tableware sets. Choosing just one might be a challenge, but why not collect several patterns of holiday dinnerware to share with the family for Christmas dinner and pass them on to future generations!
I guarantee, some people in your family would really appreciate it. Heirlooms are not just "a dish". They bring back memories of great times spent with loved ones.
I look forward to hearing your stories and seeing your photos of memorable holiday gatherings!
